Well where can I start.
Let's start with Mid week practice.
I was
. Couldn't slot a line or get anything close to decent, barely hitting 25's...
This was after several full race distances..On either compound. I was actually faster on the RM compound vs RS..
As my team mates can attest too, I was really struggling to make this car / regulations work.
I was almost at the point of saying F@#K it and take a break for a season..
Qual
So come race day, I wasn't expecting great things at all.
I managed to grab 7th with a low 25.0 PB and was, hmm That isn't too bad.
Race
T1 was tight as expected, but luckily it all seemed to be pretty clean.
I somehow managed to be sticking with the group I was in (mid pack with
@Ozglenn @pat65 @UrsineSaturn9 to name a few)
I even begun to make some time on that group. Was it me finally 'clicking' with the course / track or was their battling helping me out. I'm going to choose the first, because for the first time all week, the car / track felt good. I started to slot in 24's for the first time EVER!!
At the same time,
@incey &
@Max Gassit were having an epic duel for 2nd, which allowed Glenn, Ursine and I to sneak up to them.
It was during this window of several laps, we had 4 to 5 of us all going for 2nd position. It truly was epic. I'm still excited about it!!
I managed a move on
@UrsineSaturn9 at the downhill corner, that I managed to make stick. Not sure how I did it or if it was a dirty move, I'll re-watch and make that determination later.
Once I made that move, Ursine dropped back a bit and it was Incey, Max, Glenn and I all having a great crack at it.
I believe that Incey may have been the first to crack with a deep brake and wide corner, which dropped him to the back of this pack.
Pit stops happened and out of nowhere pops Nemo into 2nd... like where did you come from dude!!!
Anyhow, Max had pulled away a little, Glenn and I had a constant see-sawing battle for several laps, but Glenn's pace was too great for me and he gradually pulled away.
At some point Max's strategy (3 stopper) undid all the awesome work he had done before hand and slipped down the rankings.
I almost lost my position to
@HSVDT_15 in the closing laps due to some off track adventures, but some encouragement from Glenn, helped me steer the car back to the black stuff and to 4th!!
In the end, I'm super happy and proud to have been 'best of the rest' this week.
Podium was maybe on the cards, if Nemo still needed to pit, but he played his cards wonderfully.
Congratulations to
@Mightymurph51 on your monster win yet again. You were never challenged.
Kudos to Nemo and
@Ozglenn for rounding out the podium.
On to next week!!
