I didn't like this track during testing and still don't...hahaha The McLaren doesn't feel suited to the track...the BRZ would've been great, the Macca is a bit too loosey goosey for my liking!
Don't give up!! I think this track is going to catch the faster guys out, trying to push too hard, will end up off the track. I'm gonna push for qualification mostly and then steady for the race, waving to the pushers as I pass them digging sandcastles. ...works in theory?!
As long as you hit your lines and markers correctly I find it very stable. Go OFF your line (especially through the turn 4/5 s's) and you have to back right off the throttle - or LOOK out! I just did a 10 lap practice stint - 7 laps were in the 12's and 3 laps were in the 13's (with a PB of 1.12.1xx). After the wet of Monza, I am LOVING this track!
I'm not racing if you are doing12.1 Dave slow down abit and think about the rest of us slow drivers in div 4 come on mate !!!
LOL, says the guy who has blitzed the field to win the past TWO races by a country mile! Unfortunately, it's one thing to do it in practice but it's another to do it during the pressure of qualifying and racing.
Crikey Dave, I'm only 1.2 seconds off the pace then!!! And thats ONLY if I string a good lap together. There's more time to be had (I've been faster in the first sector) but just can't follow through with the rest of the lap. But, it's really all about the race pace!
I agree, its very easy to lose time in the last half of the track and the final hairpin turn into the straight often dictates whether I get a good time or an average time. If I brake too much (or not enough) I lose time coming out of the turn on the run to the finish line.
I found most of my time in turns 2 - 5. You don't get that right you can lose 2 secs without even trying.
I did the same Ad....then I found more time in the back half of the track as well Bloody PD, they hide it everywhere....
There's certainly time out there to find! Tonight I managed a 1.11.8xx - all the planets must have aligned. Previous to that a 12.003 and a couple of 12.1's (averaging around the 12.6 mark at the moment).....so the time is out there (you just have to find it) For a laugh I ran some laps with RM tyres and managed a 13.4 on my third lap....very unforgiving though, compared to the RS tyres.
