I think you're just doing something right, it's a very short track so the lap time difference will be small and that's not far off my best time. Nobody will be in the 1'01s.

guys i am so sorry, I won't be able to make it to tonight's race as well - if it's anytime at 8:30pm NSW time, I won't be home at the time. To everyone who's in tonight's race, all the best and have fun.

    cheers,

I want to break my TV after this round, it lost me the race and I'm super pissed off about it.

Edit: This will tie the series at 58pts a piece between Beau and I.

Stink Paulie. Oh well it gave you and I a nice opportunity for a great sustained tussle. I thought I might have you at a couple of moments but I was really focused on keeping it clean and you made your Tamora very wide. Nice work. A couple of little mistakes scrubbed up my tyres and I dropped back after that.

Outta, nice wee tussle with you too there early on. You spooked me a bit with a shunt into the hairpin once but that was all the more incentive to break some ground on you. Catching Paulie really helped me with that. Great fun there too.

Not much practice and only just in the door from a long day 4WDn. Pre race Practice I got best my PB time by 0.2s with a 1.03.8 which I couldn't replicate in quali. My head just hadn't settled down from the rush home and my lines were all wrong. But my pace really came along during the race. (It's a bit like that for SuperGT wednesday, rushing home from work my heads just not in it very quickly)

I really enjoyed tonight guys. I feel like each time we take to the track I'm learning a little more about driving fast laps. Not just in the Tamora but in SuperGT and in general too. Obviously I still have room to grow with Beau and Paulie still outpacing me but I feel a little improvement this season. Paulie, although it's a pity how it eventuated, that sustained battle with you really added to my enjoyment today. Cheers.

For the Tamora at least I think I'm a convert to the darkside, using ABS=1. I just can't push out laps on the limit consitently without it, too much risk on going catastrophically unstable and/or burning up tyres, and to have a look in with you guys at the top I can't afford not to be on the limit.

Hey pauley did ya TV totally break down or did you manage to finish the race?

If it broke down you need to include "Pauley was left standard in pits due to engine failure and watched on helpless" or something of the like........

Good race guys, I was happy to be able to find a gap in my family commitments this week to make it to the race. I only had the hour before the race to practice, I just couldn't get on the pace through the final sector on this track.

Had a nice battle with koastr, he passed me and started pulling away, I though I had worked out where I was losing time so closed back up again, but then paulie appeared and koastr jumped on his tail and they both pulled away from me.

Late in the race sid joined the room and I thought to myself don't get distracted by the chat popup, then I got distracted by the chat popup and ran wide in the final turn, I did that a few more times in the last 20 laps and squandered my nice lead over FloodSim (who was now pumping out faster laps than me) so he managed to pass me with 2 laps to go after I threw it a little wide again in the final corner.

To be honest I'm glad to see the back of this track. Looking forward to laguna, which is probably my most comfortable track except for Monaco.

Geez that sucks, way more than my race LOL. Problem here is I have Beau hunting me down in the championship, we're now tied as a result of that. My TV drops the picture occasionally, I have to change the input then change it back, I even pressed the wrong button on the remote which cost me a few extra seconds. I ended up in 2nd place for this race.

So your tv glitch cost you victory.....or did it cost you a "chance" at victory. You seem so sure you were gonna win this race.

Haha yea I hate that damn chat popup, or the PSN notifications. I just can't help but sneak a glance at them and it's always costly! :x

According to the maths, unless either of us had driven differently I'd have beaten you by 4sec thanks to pit strategy, and solely due to pit strategy. That's based on how the race DID go down and how much time I lost with "mechanical failure". Coulda woulda shoulda as it goes.......
The maths goes, you were on my bumper when the TV dropped out, gap negligible. After it I was 9sec down. After the pit stop I was 4sec down, another crash while I was caught daydreaming (since the race was already lost) lost me another 3sec, and due to your better tyres to finish the race that lost me another 1sec. Final gap 8sec, still a 1sec gain from post TV drop-out. So even if I still had that 2nd crash I still could have won by 1sec. Again though, based on how the race DID go down.

Edit: Unless you had some crash/es that I'm not aware of? I know you're normally a faster driver than I am, I'm probably going to get owned at Laguna Seca and the Green Hell unless you're as bad at either of them as I am. You should have a go at WRS on GTP, you'd do very well I think. Same goes for any of you guys, if you want to improve, WRS is a well reputed series for improving skills.

You see paulie...it was a "race". All's I had to do was be the first across the finish line. I had a gap on you. so I managed that gap. Just like I have done so many time in the past. Just like racers do. Where's the sense in me driving flat out to the finish risking a crash??? And if you must know... I also had a moment or two in the closing stages. lapses of concentration . My pit strategy was all about winning the race as comfortably as possible. I was never going to try and extend the gap to you. although that happened anyway. At the end of the day I got the W. Who knows what might of happened if your tv didn't malfunction. But I do know we were dead evenly matched for speed and it could have been a cracker race...

As for WRS. Its not my thing. IMO those comps are often won by the bloke with the most spare time. If you take two equally talented individuals...the one with the most practice will probably win. Plus I think its 100% retarded that you have to have a GTP tag to compete.

edit: If we were still nose-to-tail by lap 25 or 27 or so. I would have used a different pit strategy. But we weren't. I've been around long enough to know most of the tricks when it comes to strategy. Paulie...your claiming you made some great strategy when....I actually made the strategy FOR you. If I had of pitted on lap 27 like most others...you would't have gained the 4 second advantage. Your strategy was the no frills strategy for the fastest total race time. My strategy was to use my 9 seconds advantage and run long on stint one so I finish strong on stint 2 (if I had to).

Okay I might break the tension here with a quick reflection on my own race.
I really enjoyed the race this week. It was my best result in a long while, and probably the most focused and consistent performance I've ever had.
After 3 rounds i've finally found a brake bias setting I like which made me much more comfortable with the car.

I was happy with my qualifying lap which I did early in the session which was the fastest lap i'd done through all of practice. I started 5th, strangely enough ahead of Koastr, which gave me confidence with a long race ahead. I was itching to get the race started so was messing around while the session finished, I must apologise if I distracted anyone.

Very average first few laps, a few mistakes and I was back to last place until natman had an off at the final corner. I then had never_enough ahead of me and chasing him was where I really started to focus and get into a good rhythm. I really wish GT5 would show splits to the car ahead/behind, because over the next ~25laps I was focused purely on catching Never. Slowly but surely I reeled him in. Props to him for clean driving which forced me to really concentrate.
I was right up with him when I pitted around lap27, Never stayed out for a few more laps but when he did pit, I found myself comfortably in front.
I was a bit surprised by that; I'm not sure if he made some mistakes on older tires or if the power of the undercut gave me such a big advantage, but I was then focussing on maintaining the gap. Outta was ahead by quite a bit, but I had no idea by how much or if he getting away so I was just doing laps accepting a 5th place.

Turns out Outta wasn't getting away. I knew he pitted a few laps earlier than me which made me think he was struggling with tires, and when I could see his car on the other side of the fence coming out of the left-hand hairpin as I was on the straight out of turn 1, I thought I might be in with a shot of catching him with about 15laps to go.
By this stage my concentration was faltering and after a few small mistakes I didn't think I would close the gap. I regained my focus and started churning out consistent lap times I think around low 1:04; not super quick, but enough to reel in Outta. And with about 4 laps to go I was getting close enough to think about where I would make a move.
As luck had it, with 2 laps left Outta must have really been struggling and ran wide in the final corner, gifting me an easy pass.

All in all, happy with the way I drove; wasn't too hard on the tires, no race-ending spins/crashes and a good bag of points. I just hope I can continue this into the next round and beyond.

+1 on the enjoyment. Well done Flood, good performance and a nice write up. Watching the replay you definitely managed your tyres well.

Pictorial highlights are up -- Check 'em
    http://gtleagueoz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=268&start=10#p5775  Enjoy ;)

I must be honest I left the replay running unattended from lap 34ish to lap 50. It's alot to watch and I was pretty sure we were all just spread out and grinding uneventful laps...

I tried to get a nice close up of you Never_Enough. The black is great for reflections, but I didn't find a shot that had a recognisable reflection with enough going on in it. Maybe nextime. You punched out some good consistent lap sessions as the race wore on though.
