Ahhhh, how could I forget dire straits, was so many good bands back then. Favourite album of all time would have to be counting crows "august and everything after". Had some huge hits. Still gets a regular run in the car even though it was released in 93.
BAD THREAD !!!!! Just started looking on you-tube and soooooooo many classic songs come flooding back from those blurry nights at the local....... Pink Floyd - The wall R.E.M. Losing my religion Metallica Chilli peppers got into a bit of Nikelback Will have to stop now, so many great songs ....
Oasis were the spoilt brats of the british scene for a while, i think everyone wanted to punch the lead in the throat, but damn they put out some big songs....
Bands I've seen um...... When I was a young bloke we seemed to have good bands playing somewhere here on the Sunshine Coast nearly every week stuff like, the divinyls, gangajang, noiseworks, the angels (seen many times remember few), the radiators, screaming jets (seemed to be here every other week), midnight oil, Johnny Diesel and the injectors, Australian crawl, saw INXS in the late 80's ( meh, compared to other bands around at the time they were a bit of a fag band), seen cold chisel a few times (many bogan anthems but a good show), you am I (probably favourite australian band), seen hoodoo gurus many times (best one was at Moorabbin and got to hang out with them backstage after the show, drank their grog and demolished the snacks, a bloke I was in the army with was the drummers brother-in-law, really nice guys not show biz arseholes at all), saw the Steve miller band at the Hollywood bowl in L.A., Ray Davies of the Kinks at some club in L.A., Garth Brooks in Las Vegas ( my wife's idea, but that being said he was good, a pretty funny guy, and mostly sang other peoples songs not his own crap). But the one I remember most is the one I missed out on, in 1995 I had in my hot little hand a ticket to see The Rolling Stones (massive stones fan me) at ANZ stadium in brisbane, at the time I was based at Cabarlah just north of Toowoomba, and was ready to scoot to brisvegas as soon as I was knocked off fully psyched for a magic night. But alas the Army had other ideas, some bludger had weaseled his way out his rostered front gate duty and I was informed that I had volunteered to take his place, my protests and explanation of my plans for the evening fell on deaf ears however what didn't fall on deaf ears was my final retort to the person who had dirked me for the front gate duty of "you are a deadset c#?%head" with which I was rewarded with another weeks worth of extra duties and a fair face ripping for my efforts. A few years later I would have my revenge, but that's another story.
That's awesome, I've been waiting 30+ years for them to do Back in Black it's a song that screams out for the muppet treatment.
Icehouse, Johnny Farnham, Cold Chisel, Barnsey, Midnight Oil, Crowded House, Hunters and Collectors, Pink Floyd, Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I...I could go on and on and on and on...
=) Glad to announce that the thread is now self-sustaining. Job done. I always like nostalgia and if I haven't heard of something that's good I'd like to find it, so I'll have to come back and listen to a few of these videos on page 2 now. I've got most of them though - just a few I'm missing. I love collecting music. Just to separate from all the timeless classics, is anyone else listening to Australian electro pop? Pendulum, The Potbelleez, Rogue Traders? I could link 'Voodoo Child', but I never actually liked it that much and that would be easy on the nostalgia. Noone's mentioned Savage Garden yet either, lol. Or are these acts too alternative?
I reckon I would be a millionaire if i had a dollar for every time I sang along to this in my late teens:
Well, some of the concerts I have been to (or songs from the era of the concert): Billy Joel concert was the best I have ever seen - BY FAR!!! As for songs/artists I listened to in my "younger days", the list could go on and on, but to name a few (without adding anymore video clips LOL), in no particular order: Metallica (this is in order - MY fave band of all time) I loved this band so much I learnt most of their songs on guitar, drums and bass) Faith No More Midnight Oil Dizzy Mizz Lizzy (Danish Band) Def Leppard Slayer Guns N Roses (along with pretty much all the 90's rock bands on MTV) Nirvana Foo Fighters King Diamond Korn Ozzy Osborne Testament Pantera Savage Garden Dire Straits Phil Collins (another I wish I'd seen in concert) Michael Jackson ...and many many more. Looking back at the list it is quite a wide and varied selection Oh the good ol days....when Saturday nights were all about cruising the local streets in your car with your favourite tunes blaring as loud as your system could handle. No cares, no responsibility. These days if I turn the music up in the car past 10% I get told to turn it down. Thankfully I still get to indulge my pleasure on the way home from work most days (with Friday's reserved to often unwind and crank it right up, just like I used to). I imagine people around me must wonder what the hell is going on, with the likes of Korn or Slayer pumping out of a stock Honda Accord Euro with some 40 something guy driving home that looks like he should be listening to the Beatles or something similar LOL. Sometimes it's the simple pleasures...
Here is my GT6 playlist. Well all of these albums are on my ps3, plus over 300 80's songs. Over 1800 songs so far. It's a work in progress, so much more to add...
