I reckon 3 polite taps, just to let the bloke in front know you are there (and I mean POLITE...none of this 'bump and run' pushing a bloke wide at the apex BS, or spinning anyone...that would mean "WAR")...so let him know you are there, AND, give him a corner or two to 'answer the door'...this defines POLITE for me, THEN the elbows will come out if the pain persists...
I'm a big believer in "give as good as you get", but this applies to "on track respect" as well as "slightly maliciuos reprisal", SO, you show me respect/give me space and I'll gladly reciprocate...drive like a selfish child born to win, and I'll come around to your house and kick you in the balls 3 times sonny...it's simple really!
I dont know what anyone else thinks, but I'd say (especially with Clipsal 500 on this coming weekend I think...), it's a great opportunity to open up the old "B Pillar/fair pass" debate...open to so many interpretations, and yet, there's really only one...
@Hatfield will be taking submissions on this topic, and we'll have a slide night with everyone gathered around the projector bulb, have a few frothies, discuss differing view points 'like gentlemen', and settle any 'outstanding' grievances with Mongolian wrestling, acts of strength, and trading insults about 'your mother'...like civilised, mature gentlemen!
