sucks what happened with the black flag BS. Good drive at the end ben
Tonight we had Round 2 of the OSR Development Series at the iconic Aussie track of Phillip Island.
Sam eager to put in a good result had been practicing since midday, participating in the Official races,
Sam put in an excellent qualifying to put the Raceonoz Commodore P1 in the qualifying lobby with a 1:30.739, which placed him 5th on the grid in the top split.
Sam got a cracker start moving up to P3 by the time he entered Doohan Corner (turn 1), but as he came into the braking zone for Honda hairpin he had a flash back to Kelly vs Lowndes final round 2006, another car was very deep on the anchors, tapped Sam in the right rear quarter spinning him around and smashing him in the right front wheel giving Sam slight Steering damage.
Sam only lost 1 position and continued on pushing the car til lap 12 where we could take his scheduled pit stop and get repaired, but the repairs didn't last long because Sam put a wheel on the grass exiting pit lane and got side swiped by another car coming down pit straight.
with the car only having minor cosmetic damage he pushed on trying to get the undercut on the car in 3rd, but as all cars had completed their stops, Sam found himself still in 4th, 4 seconds behind 3rd place.
Sam Battled his way through the back markers of the 52 car grid to get right onto the back of 3rd place with 3 laps to go, getting a good run out of the final turn onto Gardner straight 3rd place defended hard staying hard right to hinder any move by Sam into 1.
But with Sam being the Trailer Park Girl that he is (see Eminem song- Without Me) went around the outside at 1 and made it stick, then went on to bring it home in 3rd.
Michael had another bad run getting taken out mid pack on the opening lap. here is a few words from Michael on the matter in the post race interview...
Michael: " Ffs!!! Again second corner and done. Had the inside line and then bang I'm on the other side of the road backwards. Work my way up from near last to 25th to get taken out by the same driver who took me out in last seasons Phillip Island race!!,
unfortunately that's the way motorsport goes I guess, hopefully luck goes my way the rest of the season. "
Tomorrow night we have Ben and Steven in the Main Game.
See Raceonoz iRacing Team facebook page for Photos: https://www.facebook.com/RaceonoziR/
So tonight we had the OSR Main Game series.
Tonight provided mixed results for the team.
Benjamin was struggling to put a lap down in Qually after doing a 1:30.1 in practice, Ben struggle to get near that only producing a 1:30.8 as the timer went zero, giving him 34th in the top split, as the race started he got a half decent start for once and started gaining positions early.
As he went into turn 4 all he could see was cars everywhere, as he enter Siberia he found himself with clear track and went to make the move, but half way through that move the gap closed up as 2 other car had a coming together and spun Ben into the middle of the track ending his race lap 1 as car piled into the side of the new freshly painted #91 Falcon.
Video of Ben's start can be found on the Raceonoz iRacing team Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/RaceonoziR/
Sam had an awesome qualifying, finding almost a whole second on his time from the Development series after Ben had given him his setup, his time put the #21 Raceonoz Commodore in 21st position.
Sam got an excellent start passing a few cars lap 1, putting in some very fast an consistent laps he pitted lap 16 from 12th position. after a quick pit stop he found himself in 8th in a Synergy Sim Racing sandwich.
He manged to keep this position as Jake Moloney blew his motor going into turn 1 with 3 laps to go.
Steven also had a shocker in Qualifying only getting a 1:31.145, placing him 5th in the 2nd split. Steven had a pretty straight forward and uneventful race to go on and finish 2nd.
next week we go to Oulton Park, where we will be running the Fosters with Hislop chicane... recipe for disaster.
Short fast tight track vs Big heavy powerful car
uh oh... rookies here I come...
Good luck, make sure you keep your eyes ahead or if you are in front watch out for the people with weird names...
They are the ones that tend to go balls deep into the corners
Ah yes, the good old days when Mike Sucdnervrtbrtfviqecfewrk4f5iwrvrjvwifvweitvewcvwek divebombed me at Lime Rock......Good times.......!
Tonight we had round 3 of the OSR Development Series at the tight short circuit of Oulton Park Fosters.
Sam and Michael having season best qualifying results with Sam getting 2nd and Michael crossing the line with a time good enough for 21st.
Michael Kirkham got a good start passing a few cars on the opening lap, avoiding the mayhem that a tight track like this produces, getting up to 18th as he entered the pits, but as he entered the pits he missed the timing on the limiter slamming on the brakes to avoid getting a penalty.
This cost him a good 3 seconds in the pits as he came out 2 seconds behind the person he was battling with, but found himself still in 15th after the pit stops completed.
Michael continued his solid run to make up 2 more positions to finish 13th.
Sam had a good start holding on to 2nd into turn 1, Sam and the leader pushed each other to gain a 8 second gap over the group behind as the pits started, original strategy was to pit on lap 18, but Sam's engineer Ben suggested to stay out a little longer as he would have come out in heavy traffic.
This move would prove genius, as Sam came out with clean air and Sam found himself in the lead with a 6 second gap too 2nd place.
Sam drove the car at ten tenths for the rest of the race, battling through heavy lap traffic, with 3 laps to go the car in 2nd place had an off track excursion giving Sam massive relief and allowed him to cruise to victory.
Well Done Sam on his first V8 Supercars race win!
next week we move on too Laguna Seca
@Benjamin J Smith would you like these 'news' stories published on the front page?
Yeah mate that would be great.
nice job @Sam D Blacklock !
I would need a 730x300 image for the top image of the article
Round 4 of the Oceanic Sim Racing main game at Oulton Park.
Here is a hot lap of the track from former Raceonoz member Enforcer_98
Tonight saw names such as Madison Down and Ian Ford come in for a run, rubbing panels with our 3 drivers for tonight, Steven, Benjamin and also Michael from the development getting more laps under his belt to improve his skills in the V8 further.
Qualifying saw track temperatures up around 37 degrees, which would mean getting the perfect lap would be hard and with such a short track, it would make for a hectic qualifying session.
all 3 Drivers all finished within 4 tenths of each other, with the times placing Steven 20th, Ben 27th and Michael 37th and last in the top split.
all drivers getting decent start making positions on the opening lap staying out of trouble, it wasn't til lap 2 into the Hislop Chicane where Ben had made a pass on a car and this driver decided to hold on the outside and tapped the left rear quarter into the left hander, spinning Ben right into the path of the rest of the field.
Ben managed to roll back off the track without too much damage but found himself in dead last in 37th position.. Ben put the hammer down manged to get back up to 28th.
But on Lap 10 it all went bad again, Ben came up to a car parked across the track, went to go around on the grass but this parked car started to to move in the direction Ben had already committed to, by then it was too late and made massive contact and cause heavy damage.
Ben dragged the car back to the pits got it repaired and set off on making back up as many positions as possible. manged to climb all the way back up to 21st to claim a 6 place advantage on his finishing position.
Michael's race was fairly uneventful but produce one of the drives of his season gaining 21 positions to finish 16th, making up more positions then he did in the development series. Finally Michael's luck looks to be turning around.
Steven also had an awesome run pitting from position 18th, he managed to have a cracking run in his second stint to gain a further 9 positions to finish 9th, only 2 seconds!! behind Ian Ford the 2015 Sudden Death Endurance League Champion.
Even after a few issues, it is great to see the progress of all our drivers over the past 6 months. hopefully the trend continues and we seeRaceonoz.com cars fighting for race wins and championships in V8's and GT3 in the near future.
The 2 recent write-ups are on the front page @Benjamin J Smith
Tonight, we had Round 4 OSR Development Series from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, where we would have a sprint round which involved 2 races in which one of those races you had to stop for 2 tyres of your choice, with the result from Race 1 determining the grid for Race 2.
Both drivers’ eyes set on a good showing put hours of practice in with over 500 laps being completed this week alone.
Sam Blacklock and Michael managed to set good lap times securing spots inside the top split with Sam in 2nd and Michael in 30th.
Michael had a storming run in the first race going from 30th to 9th, but not taking the required pit stop.
In the second race, he got involved in another groups accident into the corkscrew, he took to the grass but got a massive slow down forcing him to 15th position.
After Michael took his pit stop he fell too 25th position, but managed to gain a few more spots finishing 19th, passing the last car into the final turn on the last lap.
Sam had a cracking start going into turn 1 in first place, Sam stayed out electing to take the race win.
With the first car to have completed the stop in 16th position, Sam had to gain more than a minimum of 28 seconds on him to win the 2nd race.
As Sam started the 12th Lap (last lap you could pit), he was 26 seconds ahead, but when he entered the pits he gained another 2.5 seconds on him.
This would prove move then enough with Sam coming out still in the lead with a 1.8 second gap and with only 2 laps to go Sam just had to keep it clean and cruise to the finish.
Well done too Sam on his 2nd and 3rd win in a row and taking the double in a sprint round!
loving those liveries guys.
results are on the up as well, well done lads.....smithy just needs some luck for a good result....
another noob on his way over to iracing
Into rookies u go!
This looks like great fun and competition. Well done guys, might have to invest in a decent PC and simulator to give this a go sometime in the future
