How long do you reckon until we see the finished product? It is looking good, and it has me pondering turning my couch into something similar

Thanks, I was hoping (still might one day) get into iRacing a bit more than I have, and had intended to use the tab for DashMeterPRO.

But it works well at keeping an eye on and posting on the forum on the fly, I wish Playstation had an app like Xbox smartglass, it would be awesome to have a hud on GT5 remote from your TV, or even as a rear view mirror like the Polyphony display at G3 just prior to GT5's release using a PSP as rear view mirror :(

Here is a link to the tablet as well if any one is interested, it is the cheapest Android 4.0 tablet I come across and works great for all my general app stuff too, as well as movies and books on the go ;)

Only just stumbled upon this thread Clevo. Looks great. Wife loves the idea (as you said 'happy wife, happy life'). and not as intricate and fiddly as the tabletop racing story. Have got the go ahead from the other half to build it and to make things better managed to pick up a red no name race seat for $10!!!!!! at the local tip shop. Little ratty but hell for $10 who cares!!!!!

Any chance of a few dimensions to cut time?

Have even come up with a whole slide/rack system for the seat to stow away better and in turn make the box shorter. Whether it works out remains to be seen.

    Hi t_b,

Dimensions were 900W x 1800L x 600H, things to watch, is weight, I made it all out of 18mm MDF and it had a bit of weight to it, and was difficult to move on the carpet even with the castors. The size could be cut down, I went with those dimensions to fit the seat when folded down for the purpose of a lid (that part I didn't get to)

The other thing is driving position, I made a base frame for the seat and elevated the front of the seat to take the pressure off the back of my thighs, but it probably could have been a bit higher.

Another thing is the position of the wheel relative to the pedals, my wheel was probably back a little too far probably approx 100-150mm so my arms were stretched right out with my legs still bunched a little.

Hope this helps if you have any other questions just shoot them my way, will only be too happy to help :)

    Cheers
    Clevo

Thanks mate. I was playing around with measurements last night and I think I can shorten it up to 1500 long. I am going to install some custom slides and base so that the whole seat will slide forward then tilt back without reclining so that the seat base will tuck up behind the wheel when folded down.(Hopefully)o_O
