ROOZ NEWS Season 14 GT6 Round 2 Apricot Hill (Part 1)

Welcome to Round 2 of the ROOZ league racing series. This round will consist of 2 'Sprint' rounds, with the second race being reverse grid based on previous race's results. Unfortunately the lag monster played some part in the results for this round, with many drivers from most divisions reporting incidents. Hopefully it is something that can be sorted out, and is just an issue with the game that an update may fix.

Being that it is actually 2 races, we have split the reports into 5 separate stories so as not to miss any of the action. Unfortunately we still do not have a Division 4 or 5 reporter, so we will only be able to give a brief of their results.

So, onto the first report. We will start at the top, Division 1, with the report coming to you from warrior2167.
A week goes by pretty quickly and we're back into things with round 2 at the newly refurbished Apricot Hill, your tax dollars hard at work as the track looks fantastic. This week was the sprint round of the championship and would feature two 15 lap races.

Qualifying was a tight contest as always with the grid order as follows: Anon, vh_mik, thestig, Mustafur, warrior, Zampli, Vendalism, fastboysmith and Crunch.

No jump starts this week as Anon consolidated his pole position into the first corner.

By lap 5 the top 3 (Anon, vh and Mus) have cleared away from the rest of the field by 3 seconds from 4th place man cyber.
Even if it's for 9th place, both Vendalism and fastboysmith were racing each other as if it was for the lead. Both were trying to recover from a lag incident which mucked up their races.

It's lap 7 and after moving into 2nd place on the previous lap and harassing Anon for the lead, Mustafur drops a wheel onto the grass at the exit of the chicane.

Lap 9, and into the second half of the race the tyres are starting to become a real issue for some, as thestig (who is desperate to make up time from his earlier cut penalty while in 3rd) and Zampli fight for 5th place.
Lap 11. A very quiet start to the race from warrior, who has only just popped up on radar moving into 3rd past cyber and was now making a late race charge on his slightly better rubber.

Lap 14. A fantastic drive from vh_mik to be in second place for the majority of the race, had now began to fade after burning out his tyres too quickly in the early stages of the race and was unable to hold off warrior for the 2nd step.

A solid drive from Crunch to be in 8th place racing for the first time with new equipment.

Lap 15. Zampli, thestig and Mustafur were all closing in on Cyber who's glad to see that the final corner is within sight, as his right front tyre is down to the cords.

Pole to 1st, the perfect drive from Anon. Closing in but not quite enough was warrior, just 0.5 behind, and completing the podium was vh_mik, 3 seconds behind 2nd.
Race 2

Onto race 2 and the grid order was a reverse grid so the lineup was: Vendalism, fastboysmith, Cruch, Mustafur, thesig, Cyber, Zampli, vh_mik, warrior and Anon.

An even start from everyone, with fastboy able to hold the outside of Vendalism and has the optimum line into turn 3.

Lap 4 and there's contact with vh-mik and thestig. It looked like stig could save it but the sudden loss of speed left cyber no where to go slamming into the back of mik. Cyber was able to continue and mik did the sporting thing and waited for stig to get underway again.

Lap 7. An intense battle for 4th between Cyber, Anon and warrior with vendalism trying to hold on. The trio are 6 seconds off the lead at this stage.Lap 8. fastboysmith regained the lead after Mustafur almost mirrored the same mistake in the previous race, but this time was able to skillfully save it. Amazing he's also able to save it on the very next lap.

Lap 10. Once again warrior has sat back for the most part of the race and is now making his way forward, boldly passing Cyber for 4th at the famous never ending left sweeper.

Still on lap 10 and Zampli takes a far too aggressive line into the chicane, resulting in a cut penalty from a solid 3rd place.

Lap 13. Seeing Mustafur save his car from disaster numerous times, fastboysmith tries his luck but he can't hold on to it, leaving the race fans disappointed at what was going to be a grandstand finish. The race between the two was as good as it can get with plenty of lead changes. This left warrior in 2nd trailing Mustafur by 2 seconds with 2 laps to go.Lap 14. Anon was just making sure of his round win by moving up to 3rd past cyber. He only needed to finish 4th or better to claim the round win after victory in the previous race.

Final lap. Mustafur's right front tyre is praying for mercy at this point. Thankfully he manages to keep it off the barrier and rejoin just ahead of warrior and has the inside line heading into the hairpin.

On the inside, Mustafur runs a little deep and warrior is able to swicthback underneath him. Both drivers run side by side for the left right left into the chicane, and with warrior having the preferred outside line in the final left, he is able to get to the lead and the hold it to the line.Round Results
