    Supercars Next Generation Season 2

    Supercars Next Generation is back for Season 2 with a new line-up of Gr.3 cars and tweaks to the format following on from the highly successful Super Production Championship Cup. Get your entries in and read on for further details.

    Important Info
    • Supercars Next Generation (SCNG) Season 2 is a Gr.3 Teams-based championship run over 9 rounds, fortnightly on a Thursday night, 8.15 pm AEST (5 August to 9 December 2021)
    • Cars will be the Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang and BMW M3 Gr.3 machines with custom BOP (based on Polyphony Digital BOP)
    • Driver Ballast (+/-8% weight) will be set based on driver pace and consistency to even out the field and be set for the season (discretional changes may be made in exceptional circumstances)
    • Success Ballast (+/-3% weight) will be applied to the team car based on previous race results (up to a limit of +/-11% combined with Driver Ballast)
    • Five teams will be competing across two rooms with 1 of each car per room; i.e. 6 cars per team (dependent on entrant numbers)
    • Race format will be single lap qualifying (no slipstream) followed by ~45 min race

    Teams and Entry
    • Reply to this post to register your entry
    • Send a PM to the admin group if you are interested in being a Team Captain
    • Five Teams will be competing across two rooms with 1 of each car per room; i.e. 6 cars per team (dependent on entrant numbers)
    • No privateers - This is a teams-based series
    • Team captains will be responsible for allocating their team drivers to their available cars
    • Teams will be selected via a private draft that will take place after R1Q is completed and announced on 12 August (1 week before round 1)
    • Captains each take turns to choose drivers during the draft; however, if you have a preference to be affiliated with a particular captain or team, please contact them privately and we may be able to accommodate your choice via mutual agreement by the Team Captains (no guarantees)
    • Once assigned to a team, drivers can move between cars and between rooms at the discretion of the Team Captain
    • Cars will be fixed to a particular room
    • Every effort will be made to keep team numbers as equal as possible; however, where this cannot be maintained, Team points will be dropped from the lowest scoring drivers in the Teams with higher driver numbers

    R1Q Hot Stint and Driver Ballast
    • SCNG Season 2 is open to all levels of drivers and therefore driver ballast will be applied to reduce field spread and allow for close racing
    • Ballast will be set based on previous BOP testing and the R1Q Hot Stint, which aims to measure both pace and consistency
    • Drivers will complete a 6 lap “race” in the Corvette with the standard BOP at the round 1, 2 and 3 tracks with the average laps time from the 5 flying laps* used from each track used to generate an overall ranking (any major outlier laps may be ignored)
    • Room settings as per race, but with 0x tyre wear and 0x fuel depletion
    • Grid will be set based on Fastest First practice times with 2 to 3 laps practice between tracks
    • Drivers will start at 5 second intervals in grid order to ensure sufficient space between cars for the full pace outlap and 5 flying laps (i.e. P1 start at 0, P2 at 5 sec, P3 at 10 sec, etc)
    • Once all 3 sessions are completed, the baseline BOP will be centred around the overall average lap time for all drivers and Driver Ballast of up to +/-8% weight will be applied for each driver based on previous BOP test results to equalise the field (approximately 1% ballast per 0.1s difference in average lap time multiplied by a factor of 0.7x to account for race conditions)

    • Sandbaggers Ballast: The admin team will reserve the right to add any discretional “Sandbaggers Ballast” if any drivers are found to be sandbagging their laps in order to reduce their Driver Ballast. All R1Q replays will be shared in game for anyone that wants to scrutinise any particular laps and if there are any concerns please contact the admins by PM. DO NOT accuse any drivers on the forum

    Success Ballast
    • Success Ballast (+/-3% weight) will be applied to the team car based on previous race results (up to a limit of +/-11% combined with Driver Ballast)
    • For example, 8% Drivers Ballast + 3% Success Ballast = 11% total for the car (Success Ballast will carryover to subsequent rounds)
    • Success ballast will be fluid depending upon the number of cars competing per room as per the table below

    Points Table
    • Driver and Team points will be scored from the table below
    • If entrant numbers from each team are not even, the lowest points will be dropped so that each Team has an equal number of point scorers

    Rules, Regulations and Protests
    • Be mindful that this series will have a range of driver skills, car weights and starting tyres so you will need to adjust your driving to compensate, particularly for the first few corners of lap 1
    • Be respectful of other drivers and avoid any contact

    • Protests must be submitted by PM by midnight Saturday after each round with video evidence of the incident - primary steward @UrsineSaturn9
    • In the case of any conflict of interest alternative stewards for initial contact will be @Xtr3meNZer or @emmo46
    • The primary steward will then chose two other impartial stewards (from drivers/teams not involved in the incident) to adjudicate on the incident
    • The driver involved will be contacted by PM to inform them that a protest has been raised against them and for any additional details to assist the stewards with making a ruling
    • Upon reaching a decision, points penalties will be applied as per the table below

    Livery Regs
    Our intent is to keep these regulations as minimal as possible to allow livery designers greater creative freedom when designing their team’s livery or liveries.
    • Each car must have a number. There will not be a designated number board and the design of the number is open to you to give you greater freedom in your livery design. However,
      • The car’s number must be prominently displayed on each side of the car, the rear bumper and optionally on the bonnet.
    • Tyre sponsorship is open to teams. The tyre sponsor is to be displayed on the tyres via the in-game decal function as illustrated in the sample images below.
    • Wheels must be of a centre-lock design. Wheel brand is open to teams.
    • The SCNG2 “S” logo decal must be displayed somewhere on each side of the car (either the standard version or the "left" and "right" variant).
    • The RaceOnOz ‘Helmet+Name’ logo must be displayed somewhere on each side of the car.
    • Safety decals must be prominently displayed on the front and rear of the car.
      • Latch arrows pointing to the boot and bonnet latches. Choose a colour that contrasts with the car colour.
      • Tow decals in a contrasting colour must be placed near the front and rear tow points.
      • Extinguisher and Kill switch decals placed on the bonnet adjacent their respective locations.
    • The Next Generation banner decal must be displayed on the front and rear of the car.
      • The front decal is to be placed as shown in the sample image below.
      • Placement of the rear decal is open to the livery designer.
    • The window banner is mandatory. You may choose whichever colour best suits your livery.
