Regardless of what happens on race day, I've had a great time just practising on this track this week and learning all the corners. Managed to string together 10 clean-ish laps in a row, so was happy with that (even if they weren't that fast). It's a great fun and challenging track to learn. Add some other drivers and racing into the mix though and anything could happen.
Well, that was interesting.. Dreaded being back at the 'green hell', but luckily enough the car handled well here, unlike previous. Prac Managed some laps early on in the week and got into the 8.4x range, felt happy that would have been enough to nab a podium / win. Didn't get more normal full race prac on Sat, so just had to stick with my knowledge that my pace was on point. Pre-Race Threw some laps down and get some consisent times. As expected, the track started to bit back with my having some offs during warmup. Qual Knowing that I needed to qual well, i got out of pits ASAP, luckily I got out first so was able to use the clean air and just drive hard. Managed a 8.53 for qual and nabbed pole!! Race Had a slightly slow start as I didn't put the go peddle down fast enough so dropped to 3rd by the first corner, but I held the inside, stealing 2nd back from @Tristan Jones @Adam Wyman was able to take 1st for a bit, but I didn't let him get to far away. Alas, I / we had several minor offs during the first lap, meaning we had a nice battle for a good portion of it. No-one really ran away. 2nd lap, Adam had a mild adventure, but I got a good exit on a corner, stealing 1st. After that, I managed to steady my ship and raced clean. @Dazza83 threw all of us for a spin when he pit on lap 3.. We were all like WTF is he doing. He forgot basic math /golf clap mate Was very happy to take the win, the track itself is half the battle. Kudos to @SLAPNTICKLE and @Tristan Jones for your podium finishes. As it was the endro, Kudos to all the racers as it is isn't easy sitting in the seat for 1.5hrs, let alone racing at N24!! Well done guys. Looking forward to Tokyo!!
What a race! I gotta make a video of the race 3 of us had mid race within a second of each other - nail biting stuff! Watching the replays from div1, I can see why those guys tend to use bonnet cam instead of bumper cam like i do...so hard to race at 200kph when less than a car length behind! Congrats to all, this deserves a writeup once i make a video. Well done to all. Thanks for the coaching @Easyprey007, was very much appreciated. I almost had Vardz beat, after his couple of crashes, but it only took one spin and he was back in front of me...
Silly question, how does the drop round work? I am assuming that at the end of the season, everybodies worst round is deducted from overall score?
Thanks Going to make the last couple of rounds interesting. Looking at the championship tables there are plenty of positions available across all 4 divisions.
100% does make it interesting. For Div 4, I need 6 points more than Vardz to win over the next 2 races, as I will drop 0 points, but Vardz will drop 16, his lowest round to date.
This is the time to work as team NLR @Dazza83 and you should strategise to bring home The NLR Podiums for the team. That's what I would do.
