You have to wait until Steam ( or the developer of the game) decide its time for it to go on special again. No-one knows when this is likely to happen, but I have no doubt it will go on special again - its just a matter of when. Edit: If you add it to your wishlist on Steam it will notify you when it goes on special again!
Just a reminder about tonight's event, C6R@Nurburgring Sprint. Gates open 5.30pm WST - 7.30pm EST Event starts 6.30Pm WST - 8.30Pm EST 20 min practise 10 min Qualify 2x12 laps races. Seeya there
Same here Dave, as they say, "Practise Makes Perfect" but I think you will do just fine, and you can jump on the server anytime mate. I'll be there in 5, making a ATM
Sorry guys, I had to go. I was going to finish off the race but I wrecked my engine 3 times and when I came to a stop (for the 3rd time) I hit reverse and the game froze then spat me out of the server and back out to the main menu - so I took that as an omen my time was over. For some reason I was getting huge lag. I was dropping like 20-30+fps in places. Did anyone else experience that (especially down the main straight....???)
nah i didn't drop any frames at all that i'm aware of.Some of the guy's on the AC site say hitting ALT+ENTER can boost frames sometimes or with cube faces drop it down to 2-3 because there is no difference at all that can be seen when racing.i think the straight is a built up area prone too couple drops though same as silverstone at first corner can drop 10 fps from the crowd.
Hmmmm how many apps do you have installed? I had an issue with one of the F1 huds, where it was chopping my frames, at certain parts of the track... and sometimes it would crash or freeze... Turns out as soon as I disabled the aps in the menu (under general) it fixed it... maybe give that a go?
Cheers rotor, I might try giving that a go. I had been using the Rivali app but read somewhere that it can cause some issues so I changed back to using the KaosDashboard.....perhaps that may have been the cause. I have a few other apps but currently have them deselected from the General options menu so they shouldn't be running (including the Rivali app), but it does make sense. I know my CPU is on the limit of being "just" acceptible (Intel Q8400 Quad 2.6Ghz) but up to this point it has been fine. Last Friday night Anon, AJ and I were in a public AU room with some 12+ cars and I had no issues whatsoever (ping was around 60 or so), but on the ROOZ server I get high 300's and with only 5 cars on track last night I didn't expect to see my usual 60+fps drop to high 20's/low 30's in some parts of the track. That combined with the lag made it very hard to judge distance to other cars.
No probs. Yeah I dare say it would be an APP that is causing it to be unstable and choppy... I have a pretty decent PC, SSD's, 4770k, GTX780 under water and overclocked have everything maxed up high and it runs smooth.. soon as I installed those APPS and activated it all went to sht... :|
@DoogleDave it may be the problem with tracks as Tovey pointed out, for some reason some are GPU intensive in areas, hence you're FPS drop, or as Rotor stated it's app related, one reason I only use the tyre temp app, especially online, offline they may be ok and have no real adverse affects on system load. The high ping is purely due to the French Server & connection from Oz, my ping was 450+ last night. I would take up the Aussie Co's service but I can't afford the $36pm , 12slots might be doable @ $18pm, will investigate the possibility but I have my doubt's I have set the server up with Longford 67, I will also set the car list to a "NON GUID" I will change it back before the event each week . Wednesday nights will be used for the purpose of official practise during the C6R OZ series, the server will be set to run practise sessions only (no quali or race) and will be public with no password. Monday nights will still see an event hosted so we can explore all the cars and tracks in AC . And as Ive said before if you want a particular car on a particular track, "LET ME KNOW" and I'll set it up Cheers
Very true, I suspect its probably a combination of the modded tracks, cars and apps being run. Next time I notice it I will shutdown all the apps and see what affect that has. In regards to the server, has it ever been discussed about regular users chipping in to share the cost of an AU server? Just having a very quick look online there is THIS SITE that has slots for $1.15ea/month (12slot min), which would equate to $165/year for 12 slots. Shared amongst 4 people that's only $40/year Shared amongst 6 people it drops to $27.50/year Not alot for a dedicated AU server for 12 months.
A reminder gents that tonight is official practise for Saturdays Corvette C6R @ Longford 22lap event, I ran a few laps last night, 22 laps is doable on 60ltr of fuel, tyres Im not so sure of, the mediums felt good and wear was minimal after 12 laps so it may be down to tyres and strategy, it's a about a 50min race as I was punching out consistant low 2:15's, but for the faster guys there's a 2:14-13 in it for sure. Hope to see you all in practise tonight . Gates open 5.30Pm Wst - 7.30Pm Est, open till late or when you've had a gut full Cheers
Cheers AJ. I'll probably be on early (when gates open) for a little bit but wont be on for too long tonight. I had a run around Longford last weekend in the MP12-C and what a tricky circuit when you don't know the layout LOL I managed to drive straight through two turns (and ended up doing some paddock-bashing and eventually overcooked it which shot me OVER the fence and into the paddock. Whilst trying to find my way out I took a chance at driving through the river - BAD MOVE. I got stuck there just floating in a screen of blue, green and black so had to quit the game to get out LOL. Great fun though. Now I have some idea on the track I look forward to steering the C6R around there Also, not sure how many people have downloaded the Kutch car but that is a great fun car to drive (and around Bathurst is an absolute hoot). I am thinking of suggesting/running this combo as a one-off event in the near future The Escort MK2 is also another nice little car. A bit twitchy but with the right setup I think would be very good (as can be seen in my Youtube clip made for Clevo).
