That must be one seriously nice card. I have the 980, and its a dream...

I am a firm believer in buyer the best single card you can afford. SLI jus thave too many issues as mentioned

Yep, completely overkill for a single 1080p screen. But that = not having to worry about settings, just turn everything up; also helps with recording 60FPS.

looks good clevo, don't no much about the radeon cards but 4Gb or vram is heaps for 1080p single screen gaming and the i7 should handle PCars + AC fine.

did a bit of research on the r270 gpu and I think you should be able to run medium settings at best ( ps4 quality). The weak point is the ddr3 memory it uses. Imo I would try and get something with something like the R9 R270 with ddr5 memory.

Work is footing the bill, and ordering it, and this is just inside the budget they allocated me, also it seems to be the best bang for the buck that I can wrangle into a work laptop.

But as long as I can have a go with it to see what the games are like, I may start building a steam machine to run them on in the future.

Cheers for the advice though @Cyber_STIG_77 I appreciate it :)

It would mate, but work has Dell account so we get Dell or nothing ;) They ordered me the Inspirion, the way i figured 16gb of ram, and 4gb of graphics should be a good starting point... Now to get a steam account :)

i moved on..but damn it was fun!
I'm now in the process of building another PC (going to hand my current system to my daughter who loves gaming as well)
So i have no desire to OC anything and i'm trying to decide whether to go with an i7 4690 or a i5 4690.
obviously there is cost saving using the i5 which i could put into a bigger GPU - any suggestion please.
    I've googled myself to sleep!

    Edit: PCars recommends a i7?

Edit Edit: Just re read this thread - going to follow Cybers build

So I got new Laptop, installed steam, and rfactor demo for a little taster, now my big question is: Do I buy PCars or AC?

I seen PCars doesn't perform well on AMD compared to nvidea, so does that mean AC will be a better fit for my system?

Will we be running more AC series'or will all the AC guys be jumping to PCars?

I know my opinion is not the same as the rest, but if you want a real sim get AC. I'm not planning on jumping ship anytime soon.

    +1.
@Clevohead I think the majority of AC'ers will stick with it and won't jump across, even if dabbling in pCARS from time to time.
For the price of AC I would get it regardless of whether you're thinking about getting pCARS or not, as Pete has said you won't be disappointed.

Will probably start with AC, as I have Pcars laybuyed for PS4, but I also have the PS4 laybuyed so it will be a little while before I pick those up, and I don't want to spend too much on PC games just yet, so AC it is then. Will get on it tomorrow night as I have commitments tonight.

buy AC now its on special - absolute bargain at that price.

then get PCARS for the PC later on. It does not feel so intimidating as AC, but is a real blast to race online, and in solo.

Agree, AC is the one for tough online racing but its single player is not so great :coffee:.
