Not last night but I've driven it a fair bit in the past. It's too slow for my liking, I think that other GT4 Ginetta was on the limit of slowness for me lol.
I reckon we need a properly quick car, I don't think we've done one yet have we? My first season was season 3, I think they've all been moderate in speed since then, apart from the BMW Z4 GT3 that we raced.
yeah, most of the cars are slow to mid paced.....the issue with a 'properly quick' car is they can be a handful for the lower level or controller drivers....will keep testing though. Maybe a LMP is the way to go with the amount of grip they have. Will have a few runs in the Formula C again tonight as well
guarantee whatever it is, some will love it, some will hate it and everyone else will drive regardless !
yep, whats the saying.....'you can please most of the people some of the time, but you cant please all of the people all of the time'....anyway....will see what happens....as i said, will run some laps tonight and see what i find.....An LMP might be a good compromise, is fast with a lot of grip...need to run a few races in the different options with 10 or 12 guys.
My vote would have to be the v8, it Will always keep you awake and it's a car you have to actually drive, then I would have to say the FC followed by the gulf. They provide great racing and easy to get used too.
im not racing this season, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. but i actually left early last season because i was bored with the car. it wasnt rewarding to get it right. maybe its being looked at wrong and we need a car thats harder to drive (and more rewarding to get right) and it would keep people interested. its not a sunday drive (pardon the pun) its racing, and in racing i wanna go fast (not that i speak for everyone) that just my thoughts. ill leave now
You're right about the car being too easy driving people away, but make it a car that's too hard to handle (V8 Supercar, I'm looking at you) and it'll drive people away too. In saying what I've been saying about the V8 though, I do need to practice driving it more on the wheel.
I'll be on tonight at some stage. As you've said @stucar17. Can't please everyone as hard as you try. Whatever car gets chosen, people just need to suck it up, put their heads down and race. After all, that's what we are all here for isn't it? Good clean racing with like minded people? I've had times when I've hated the car (bloody radical) but didn't deter me from showing up every sunday and giving it a red hot go. Just deal with what you get given I say. And stop bagging the escort. Is a great little car to drive. Yes its slow, yes it doesn't have F1 brakes. It's an old car FFS!! But it is so much fun to throw around.
Its a tough one mate, we lost you because you got 'bored' we lost others because they couldnt control the car ! Certain cars wont suit everyone, but at the end of the day we have to come up with something that will suit the most drivers. I do tend to agree that 'driving' the car gives the greatest reward, but its a fine line when weighing it up against the 'cant win so wont race' mentality. I would also say that good 'racing' doesnt necessarily depend on how fast the car is. i thought last seasons car was a great 'race' car.
+1 for Team Escort. Wait.... am i allowed to say that on a Family Friendly Forum!?!? Such an awesome car to jump in and slide. Heel'n'Toe in that car is an incredible SimRacing experience. Sliding under brakes like a MotoGP bike and controlling the slide with your right foot rather than your hands. So freaking fun! Not sure i could deal with it as a Season Car, but nothing beats it for killing 10 minutes!
You're 100% right, we should just drive what is selected but the reality is that people won't. They'll pack it in if it's too easy. They'll pack it in if it's too difficult. That leaves Stu with the predicament of trying to select a car that will get the most starters and keep them there.
