Updated tables here http://www.raceonoz.com/forums/index.php?threads/nascar-championship-tables.1492/ @stucar17 let me know if there are any discrepancies.
That was good fun Thursday night, thanks guys. My 2 cents, I think that much boost made the longer race a bit irrelevant, didn't matter if U did 8 stops burning tyres, or 4 stops eeking them out, you'd always catch the leader within 7-10 laps, so everyone ends up together regardless. - So might as well run 2 or 3 shorter races, or reduce boost so strategy actually matters. And haven't seen the replay but spewing AussieF1 & I got together a lap from home, I had plenty of grip left and a good slingshot going from 5th, D'oh! Like Ned Kelly said, "such is NASCAR."
But that's what keeps it interesting. What if we did a 30 lapper with no boost and real draft and you got turned around lap 2? I think the formula is pretty much perfect, you don't have to be fantastic at lap times, and unless you get caught up in the seemingly inevitable final lap tussle you will always find your way back up to the leaders.
Yeah man we worked almost identical strategy and it was working. I got squeezed which lead to getting hit typical NASCAR sort of stuff my aim was to avoid "the big one" and I ended up getting caught up in it!!!!
Don't disagree with the boost, just wish it could be turned down a frag lower. Personal opinion is it renders longer races pointless, coz we could reach the same conclusion in 50 laps, then run a reverse grid sprint or something. A bit less boost would make longer races more strategic, and worth running instead of sprints. Maybe I'm just annoyed that I put some thought into my strategy and it was ruined a lap from home!
Same here but it was ruined by being turned around five laps from home I then rubbed salt into my own wound by trying desperately to catch up and having another spin all on my own.
Boost is pretty strong even when set to low (as it was) The whole idea though TBH , is so there is little to no strat....however on the longer tracks that does come into it more....there was a few guys who ran out of fuel, or pitted too late to make up the time like you could on the motigi oval.... All good though, is something i will adjust for the next season, maybe at that track run draft on high, but boost off so it makes it a lttle more interesting.....(not that we needed it last lap!)
Actually this would work better I think. Means people need to work together, as you can't run solo with boost to catch up and also puts strategy into play. But thats why I was suggesting doing 2 x 40 or 50 lap races... still lots of going round and round, but you get 2 goes at trying to get a clean final lap.
