I'm up for GT3, and if we used the Merc, I have noticed the 15th anniversary edition has quite a good setup in it, it definitely rewards the committed driver, even on mediums it still gets wheelspin (possibility then for mandated stops to the same compound?), I'd rather a race car though. Even one of the DTM cars maybe?
Just to start,before i throw my 2cents worth in about cars/tyres,etc,on the pitstop subject,i see as follows;
There's no point in having compulsory pitstops until the pit glitches are fixed,and CONFIRMED as fixed. I found out the hardway last race at Trial Mountain that no matter what the condition of the Starting set of tyres,they will still be faster than the 2nd set of tyres after a pitstop. Last week i had been running 2nd until a spin dropped me to 9th,then fought back to 3rd but then spun again at turn 5,dropping to 11th. I fought back to 4th or 5th again,but looking at my tyre wear on lap 15 i started thinking about another 16 laps on them was gonna be tough,& after only being able to match the leaders times for 3 laps i pitted for a fresh set so as to leave enough time to catch the guys at the front. I came out in 10th place and thats where i stayed.I couldn't even match the 9th placed runners times,which was very demoralising at first,although that soon made way for anger at PD!! Does anyone else find it ridiculous that new set of tyres can't match ones that are 30 lap old???
That's what happens at the moment
,IF you don't get the pulldown window glitch,
where the tyre section reads "Pulldown Window",not the tyre type
.When this happens(randomly) you not only can't change tyres,often you can't use the button to clear the window,which sits you in your pitstall for a standard amount of time,then sends you on your way with no service,IF it doesn't freeze on you completely.
If anyone has a facebook account,go to the official Gran Turismo page & voice your thoughts on the various bugs & glitches. They are posting them,& leaving them there,so the more people that do it,the better the chance PD might listen. Remember, they seem to listen to GTPlanet members for input on what consumers want out of GT,& GTP only has 250,000 or so members worldwide,so they're not that big in the grand scheme of things and the general GT users should outnumber GTP users quite well,we just have to speak up!!!!!
On the car subject,i agree with Mus that the SLS-GT3 is a ************!
I'd like to maybe suggest that if we're gonna go for a GT3 race car,why not nominate a few of them & let people use whichever they want,but they must nominate which before the season starts. You could allow change of car for different tracks,but also must be nominated pre-season. Any Thoughts???
On the tyre front,i'd say that maybe have the top 2 or 3 divs on Sports tyres for roadcars,but race tyres below that.In the lower divs,alot of guys are struggling enough at pulling off overtakes cleanly on RHards as it is,taking grip off them will cause incidents,& if they happen to the same ppl all the time,it'll have negative consequences like poor or non-attendance,attitudes in threads,multiple protests,& the like.
On the track front,i don't think we should be repeating tracks in the 2nd season,& if we do any day/night racing,we should really start in the day,migrate to night at about 1/3 distance,then back to day at 2/3 for the run to the flag,but it's a good idea to allow the driving line,as some older peoples vision problems makes it almost impossible to night drive in the sim without it,i've personally seen a couple of blokes that are great racers in the day,but look like NOOBS in the night. With one of them he said the problem wasn't seeing the track so much, but any braking reference points and the exit of sharp corners,but the other was opposite,he just couldn't see the edges at all,making any wide apron sections look like the track,giving him no idea where the track went,e.g at the end of the nordschlefe where you come out of the forest briefly at high speed through R/L/R esses then along a brief straight before a sharp R up the hill then left & over the crest to the 2nd Left with concrete bank on the inside,aka the carousel,he only could tell the esses were there because of the sand trap,& the general direction of straight because the armco at the next right started again on the left side,otherwise he would've headed into the imaginary barbed wire fence with a force field(The track outer boundary)
