No Carn, i didn't see the sale. I assume it's over? At that price I probably would have grabbed one.

Yea true, but knowing that you should brake offline from someone in front of you and be ready to swerve should you be heading towards them and not being able to pull up.

When coming up behind someone too fast.
Option 1, swerve, even if it means binnning your car.
    Option 2, see option 1
    Option 3, see option 2
Option 4, apologise for the contact and don't take advantage of it!

The main thing to realise is racing is not time trialling. People will have braking markers different to your own and you need to be prepared for that.

Haha I think we all have a reasonable handle on that aspect, the reverse grid is always a challenge and I think we all did our best to keep it sportsman like. Will have a look at the replay soon. ;)

Yer koaster that's my point, its more you have no brakes than you are actually going too fast, it catches people unawares and if they haven't practices the track as a race they don't know the draft brake markers or to pull out of the draft. See my post in div 2. Some people are not aware of how great this effect is in a race and are making rear contact a bit. I'm sure we all should be by now and shouldn't be too much more of it.

Thanks Bonus. I was using 'you' in the global sense just reminding everybody of the rules in the context of your comment.
I totally agree with your warning, that pop-up wing functions more as an air-brake than to add downforce IMO.
Whatever the reason, rear ending another driver should be avoided at all costs, unless you're sandwhiched in left and right, then there's F'all you can do about it!

First of all I want to appolgise to Chev for race 2. Things got crazy and it took me far too long to adjust to the pace and braking points of those around me and I found it difficult to stay ahead of the guy behind, while not hitting the guy in front. The few times I did brake earlier I was getting attacked from behind. In the end I was too eager to get into clean air and that resulted in a few hits that shouldnt have. I did try and not take advantage of those however. Once I got my car on the grass while braking which resulted in a decent nudge but all in all it was a learning experience of how to drive these cars in traffic and I will focus on being a lot better next time. Clean and fair racing is something I pride myself on and I was upset with my performance in race 2.

Once i got through the pack in race 2 I had great fun chasing down Ansquad and it was a real shame i got a penalty on the last chicane on the last lap!! I doubt I would of got you in the last corner but a close 2nd is a lot better than a distant 3rd.

Well done to Paulie for Race 1, Koastr for your solid races and Ansquad for the 2nd race win!

It's alright mate, I checked the replay immediately after the race and I'd rather let the officials decide on this one, it was only a tiny nudge but really I had nowhere to go and the end result was a spin. I could very easily see through the race you were doing your best to keep it clean, as was pretty much everyone, although there were a few incidents, not involving me necessarily, that you should/could have backed out of, just little nudges that didn't too a terribly huge amount of harm but simply weren't necessary. Other than mate I commend you on your efforts.

Edit: @ Koastr, people were swerving to the outside all the time at turn 1 to avoid contact, I did it heaps of times myself, sometimes carrying a little too much speed, other times the guy in front not carrying enough.
I'm actually really happy with my race 2 cleanliness and gentlemanly behaviour, other than hitting AussieInfidel (brain fade!), I figured I did extremely well when I had so much pace to burn. Sad as it was, I was being so gentlemanly my tyres lasted way better than I expected until around lap 8. A couple errors of my own was what really kept me at the back this race, I freaking well hate tight chicanes like that, not so bad when there's walls but it's always a question of how much do you straight line it, and the temptation becomes greater when you brake early to make sure you're not hitting the guy in front and you need to somehow keep up the pace.

Oh yea I think we did a pretty good job. I wasn't saying that I saw people doing otherwise, but Bonus made a general comment about braking zones and I just elaborated as a general reminder. From what I saw everyone did a pretty good job on Sunday night. I'm yet to watch the replay.

I think we all got nudged at some point in the race(s). What I think everyone needs to appreciate is that this car has a hell of a lot more horsepower and is a lot more of a handful than the Tamora ever was. Some people have come to grips with it quicker than others, but I honestly feel, four seasons in and the calibre of drivers we have, no one is setting out to intentionly bump-pass anyone.

Sorry mate hopefully I'll get to Race 2 and the final points tally tonight.

Just posting the race 1 results was a late night for me, I've got alot on ATM.

Last night I had a job interview after work didn't get home until 9.45 after grabbing some post interview takeout, so the PS3 didn't even get looked at twice let alone switched on....

It might be another late home tonight as I've got a mate passing through from out of town for one night only....have to oblige and at least catchup for dinner.

Gotta find some time this week to get on SEEK too. Don't want to just jump at the first job opportunity that comes by without some comparisons. The interview last night was sort of a surprise opportunity, I hadn't planned on looking for a new job just yet....but not happy where I am so you gotta see what they're about.

Good luck with the job hunting!, what kind of job are you after?

So the points are awarded based on the aggregate of both races? So it's not half points per race?

Engimineeeeer..Mech/Design/Project. Cheers for the GL :D

    Yep aggregate points. 3 person grid example ;
Step 1: Points awarded for each race as normal to establish overall positions
    Driver A finishes 1st and 3rd = 25 + 15 = 40pts plus makes fastest lap overall
    Driver B finishes 2nd and 2nd = 18 + 18 = 36pts
    Driver C finishes 3rd and 1st = 15 + 25 = 40pts.

Step 2: Championship points are then awarded as normal for the round.
Driver A is 1st for the round, decided by fastest lap*, and awarded 25pts plus 2pts for fastest lap.
Driver C is 2nd for the round, and awarded 18pts
Driver B is 3rd for the round, and awarded 15pts

*highest single finish position takes precedence over fastest lap, but both drivers in the example scored a 1st.

Sorry I got home pretty late last night. I WILL get to this final scoring tonight, promise!
