All 3 cars at Laguna using Sports soft. I would probably consider Racing hard for LFA as the other two with less power don't really push the tyres to the edge of grip like the LFA.
I don't have a clue what to choose, not really a fan of any of them on mediums, on softs they feel good but also rather lazy. M3 feels gutless in comparison the other 2 but it's my choice so far.
Interesting, although the M3 is perfectly balanced on-throttle, I found it completely inert & plough-understeery under brakes, bit of a deal breaker for me. Liking the Aston as a genuine street-car on SS & SM, always adjustable & enough power to choose multiple lines. The LFA obviously rocks, but feels closer to a race-car, which we've Done plenty of I thought?
The M3 is completely Glued on SS but gets very untame off any kind of bump or sudden Elevation, but aside from that it's very Balanced shame it feels so lazy with its wide ratio gearing. The Aston handles very glued as well with a good front end until the rear just completely goes ape with no real warning what so ever. The LFA feels like its on Sports Hards and there is quite alot of sliding that can happen from being agressive, at high speed though it starts to glue itself to the track more, but most of the time its very lively and feels close to the limit of grip at all times even though its mostly easy to correct. I wouldn't say the LFA feels like a race car, because its no where near glued enough to feel like one, but certainly has the speed of a race car, the Balance of the Chassis makes up for the lack of aero and grip from tyres.
Moar testing for me tonight i think. Then I will vote. So close between Aston & LFA, not looking at poll results till i vote.
I find myself having to vote for my second choice car as I don't wish to see my 3rd choice car win.... do not like the bmw at all
So I've managed to put in a few luke warm laps in each tonight. Here's my assessment so far: BMW: May as well be driving my 23 year old diesel Nissan Patrol. Doesn't go, doesn't stop, doesn't turn. Like driving a Mack truck on ice. The M3 '03 GTR though, love it!!!! LFA: Would be great if it had brakes. Vantage: Although slower than the LFA, I find it much easier to drive, & corners better too I reckon. Initial thoughts only, more testing to do yet.....
I agree with you maximus on the LFA brakes, you have to brake so much earlier than you think you should with this car. I do like the softer suspension on the Aston too, it soaks up any bumps, especially through corners and doesn't unsettle the car.
It seems like the votes for the BMW are certainly lacking the reasoning why from its supporters unlike the other two which have valid points to justify.... Could it be that a majority of its votes have come from a lack of serious back to back to back car comparisons? Have punters taken out the correct BMW to test?
I voted for the Aston. While the LFA is a nice car, it handles well & has good speed, the brakes, (or lack there of) is a major issue for me. I find myself trying to drive too quick & sliding straight past most corners. The Aston I think still goes quite well, if you get the line right you can throw it around a bit & who doesn't like the sound of the big V12. The BMW is just poo, which is why it's alot cheaper in the dealership.
