I'm aware of this, so what's with all the complaining about the hard tyre being removed from avaliablity? It's a useless compound in a short race.

Medium runners would have more flexibility on when to pit, where as softs/hards would have a tight pit window so potentially more time lost in the pits.

Restricting when you pit probably isn't necessary given Monza is very easy on tyres. While a softs hard strategy is better in this instance it is not necessarily the best strategy for all tracks.

    Hi all
But of a bugger for me. I can't make meet n greet tonight.
Will sort out my friends list thru the week.
So will leave u guys to work out tyre and pit strategy.
But my vote still on comfort softs to make the car live and racing unpredictable.
    Have a good night.
    Cheers

They wear roughly 10% every five minutes.

I'm not opposed to Comfort tyres if they were picked initially.

But it'll be a real farce if tyres change a week out from Round1 - a collossal joke. EDIT: F1 Melbourne qualifying scale farce. Have some goddamn integrity in the choice of Sports tyres for goodness sake. Put the issue to bed. The racing will work with last seasons regs as well as it always worked. Boring but workable. Comforts are for drifting.

People practised on these tyres. You should pick the regs, stick w/ it & bring lessons learnt to next season.

I'm totally ok for CS tyres.
70's fezza not meant to handle on rails.
Certainly not up for aquaplaning around at midnight.

Get rid of the rain I say. This is only an issue because of it. I don't find joy in driving a Ferrari in those conditions, regardless of compound.

Here are my thoughts from tonight.

We never ran SS however the other night when we did they were waaaay too grippy.
SM felt okay but still fairly stuck to the track. Never tried SH so cannot comment.
CS was the ideal pick I reckon - Ascari was heaps of fun on that tyre. As Bob said too much grip for a 70's Ferrari.

I suggest we take a step back for a moment. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the Div 1 bubble and not notice what's going on in other divisions. I've noticed that some of the most vocal opinions are in this division (myself included), and it tends to drown out everyone else.

As @Hatfield knows all too well, you can't please everyone all of the time, so we need to find a compromise. I get it, CS = most fun, SS = too grippy. I agree with that sentiment to some extent. But I'm confident that the majority in Div 3 would not be comfortable racing on comfort tires. So we need to find something in between. That leaves us with SH and SM. Stick to one compound if regulations are getting too complicated. OK, so strategy will be boring, but at least you can't get disqualified, right?

    KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

On a more lighter note, we're stuck having to choose between the Confederacy (CS), sadomasochism (SM) and the Nazis (SS).

Welp everyone may as well have just voted for the Ford GT since we're sticking sports soft on everything new and old.
For comparison, the TittS series doesn't even run anything more than SH on 500pp cars WITH nitrous and yet we're still able to stay on track and have a good time.
Also I'm sure most would find CS more comforting than sports anything in the rain, which is still being held at midnight.
What do you mean, DRZ Fuhrer has spoken. Understeer for a thousand years! GLHF in S10 everyone.

    3. Midnight
    4. Semi-slicks

Thank you @Bryan_F, some good calm reasoning there, everyone else keep your pants on!

I couldn't agree more, SM/SH strikes the appropriate middle ground between the fun of CS drifting for the brave/loony few, and the security of the sports tyres for Div.3 and Controller. Can I suggest 4-5 lap minimum on SH, and pit twice for double SM stint if you dare?

SM/SH for the win, all hail SM/SH !

The last wet race we had in a road car was S6 in the LFA, also held at Apricot Hill, and that race was a blast, only difference was it wasn't midnight. Perhaps we could simply adjust the time to be during daytime?

Also, Re: Bryan's comment on tyre selection, must all 3 divisions run on the same tyre restrictions? Or can D1 be CS and D3 SS/SM etc.

We had a race at 50% wetness, 100% weather at midnight and in the daytime and it is easier to see at midnight due to all the track lights being on.
