Only a few weeks to go! Renault still haven't sorted out their problems. Mclaren and Ferrari looking good. I'm getting so excited I feel like doing the Torah Bright shimmy!
I think Williams and Mercedes will be the ones to beat come Melbourne, Renault engines seem to be down in all areas but it will probably fixed up by mid season.
Is anyone else a bit annoyed that some of the great tracks are being overlooked in favour of 'new' venues? I like the expansion of the sport, but to not have tracks like Imola on the calendar verges on criminal! I'd love to see F1 back at Imola and Estoril in particular. Magny-Cours is a good circuit too.
Imola is a good track but terrible for racing, its basically impossible to pass. However i would rather F1 get rid of the gimmick things like DRS and rubbish tyres first.
They should bring back the wider track of the cars, fatter tyres and bugger all downforce. Let's see some sideways action!
I think thinner tyres would make them more sideways, but given the massive torque increase of the turbo units expect more sideways action this year.
Thinner tyres would make them more sideways, but it would be more predictable in my opinion. If they were fatter, they'd hold on longer, but the forces would be higher so would really get excited if they broke the limit I agree there will be more sliding this year, but no doubt some more engine mapping geeks will try and fix that
Im looking forward to someone other then Vettel winning, I reckon Hamilton will take out the WDC this year
Dislike him about as much as Seb. Both cocky little *@$t's that have heads so big its a wonder they fit in the car.
Probably a Merc 1-2 in Melbourne, with Alonso 3rd. Massa to score points on his Williams debut and Marussia the surprise, finishing well ahead of expectations
looking forward to popping my F1 cherry this saturday watching Ricadillydingo at the Top Gear Festival
Absolutely, but the main reason at Imola & Magny-Cours,apart from Mustafur's excellent point for not racing there is safety.No-one wants to race at unsafe tracks(fair enough),especially not in Italy with their legal system of basically finding a scapegoat for a death, aka Ayrton Senna,Roland Ratzenberger (RIP both men)and the trials against Williams,Adrian Newey & Simtek racing(Did you know the designer was an up & coming Aussie, who's carreer was snuffed out by the crash)
Imola there are probably safety issues, but Magny-Cours is more about location and money. Imola will probably never be upgraded as one of the spots that is in question is Tamburello and the Senna memorial won't be touched. It seems Germany is in trouble too. Nurburgring in turmoil and Hockenheim not willing to do the event annually.
I reckon you're about on the money, but i think Nico Hulkenberg is an excellent dark horse pick for the podium at least. Caterham will probably beat Red Bull in Melbourne as they at least have made their sidepods with big enough inlets for cooling, but if a Red Bull does do well,i hope it's Ricciardo, continuing the luck that Vettel had in Bahrain(MMmmwwaahaahaha) & keeps going,at least to the point he has to drive for Daniel as he's out of the championship hunt, having to move over & let Daniel past for wins when the points are needed for Dan's championship(DoubleMMmmwwaahaahaha,Kharma's a Seb!) Then he'll spit the dummy, leave Red Bull & Dan will be #1 on the car AND in the team!!!!)
